PTO-Sponsored Volunteer Opportunities
- Volunteer Coordinator – Coordinates volunteers for PTO events and school activities. Collects list of general volunteers at beginning of year. Works with the volunteer coordinator to assure that volunteer data is recorded and available to both the Committee and teachers. Works with board to assure volunteers are recruited for programs and events. Most of this can be done from home.
- Display Case Coordinator – This person would coordinate with the board on what to put in the display case by the office. They would be creative and make a display of the certain event(s) that need to be shown. It could be done part at home and part at school.
- Webmaster - Responsible for maintenance of the PTO website. Maintains the site on an as needed basis. Website is www.harveyclarkepto.org. This job can be done at home.
- Historian/Yearbook Coordinators - Takes photos of any and all PTO related activities. Displays pictures on a monthly bulletin board, in a Harvey Clarke scrapbook, and submits to the webmaster. PTO will provide the developing and scrapbook.
- Art Literacy Coordinator(s) – You do not need to be an artist! Lead, organize, recruit, train and schedule art literacy presentations (currently three times yearly). Coordinates volunteers/teachers schedules. An information notebook is available with lesson plans.
- Reader Board Coordinator - This person is in charge of keeping the reader board updated once a week, which is located outside in front of the building. This person will keep in touch with the PTO board and the Administrative Assistants to get updated information on a regular basis.
- Campbell’s Soup Labels Coordinator & Box Tops for Education Coordinator & Tyson’s Labels Coordinator - Box Tops for Education is a program sponsored by General Mills and enables schools to earn money for the school. The Chairperson(s) of this program distributes flyers throughout the school year to encourage families to clip the box tops from a variety of General Mills products. Coordinates various incentives to promote the program. Collects the box tops on a monthly basis and submits them to the company. Provides monthly updates on the program's progress and looks for other creative ways to increase collections. Can do this at home (about 4 hours per month).
- Spirit Wear Coordinator – Coordinates purchase orders of all school spirit items, including the hooded sweatshirts, T-shirts, etc. Works with a chosen vendor(s) and arranges the details of printing, etc. Researches and recommends new spirit item possibilities. Coordinates sale of these items via the PTO website and at major school/PTO functions.
- Book Fair Chair – The PTO sponsors three book fairs throughout the year in December, March and June. The Book Fair Chair works with Scholastic to set the dates for the fair in conjunction with school/PTO functions (such as Parent/Teacher Conferences and Field Day). Works with the volunteer coordinators to staff the event.
- TerraCycle Coordinator - Prepare and maintain collection bins in cafeteria, collect and count then send in pouches and bags, updates totals to secretary and web master for newsletter and website.
- Fall Festival Committee, October (4 people needed) – Coordinates the Fall Festival in October in regards to entertainment, activities, food and prizes. Comes up with the ideas and then puts them into action. Start working on it in September.
- BINGO Night Committee (4 people needed), February - Coordinates the Family BINGO night in February, including food, beverages, prizes, theme and decorations, and silent auction. Comes up with the ideas and then puts them into action. Start working on it in January.
- Family Movie Night Coordinators - Coordinates family movie nights, setting up, staffing concession stands, taking money at the door, clean up after. Need helpers on a consistent basis or whenever you are able.
- Teacher/Volunteer Appreciation Coordinator - May – Coordinates the Teacher Appreciation Committee to celebrate the Harvey Clarke staff during National Teacher Appreciation week, including gifts, breakfast, lunch, etc. This is the first week in May.
- Fun(d) Run Coordinator(s) - May (at least 2 people needed) – Works with the board to coordinate the fun(d) run in May including sending out notices, collecting pledge sheets, collecting money, providing water & treat to all kids.
