The Forest Grove School District (FGSD) is happy to announce the hiring of Laura Christensen as 
Ms. Christensen is the principal at Gaston Elementary School, where she has served since 2020. Prior to her time as principal, Christensen was the Teacher on Special Assignment – Behavior Coach and 4th Grade Elementary Teacher in the Gaston School District. She also served as a 3rd grade teacher at Gresham Arthur Academy in the Gresham-Barlow School District.
“I am looking forward to meeting our amazing students, their families, and the dedicated staff members who make Harvey Clarke such a special place,” remarked Christensen when asked about how she was feeling about the new position. “Building strong relationships and fostering a positive, supportive environment is very important to me… Together, we will build on past successes and strive for even greater achievements.”
Christensen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University and her Master's in the Arts of Teaching from Marylhurst University.
The district is excited for Laura to join the FGSD team and wish her well as she begins the next phase of her career at Harvey Clarke Elementary.

El Distrito Escolar de Forest Grove (FGSD) se complace en anunciar la contratación de Laura Christensen como la nueva Directora de la Escuela Primaria Harvey Clarke. La vacante de Harvey Clarke se abrió cuando el actual director, el Dr. Troy Fisher, anunció que dejaría el cargo para convertirse en Superintendente del Distrito Escolar de St. Christensen comenzará su nueva posición el 1 de julio de 2024.
La Sra. Christensen es la directora de la Escuela Primaria Gaston, donde ha servido desde 2020. Antes de su tiempo como directora, Christensen fue la Maestra en Asignación Especial - Entrenadora de Comportamiento y Maestra de 4to Grado de Primaria en el Distrito Escolar Gaston. También se desempeñó como maestra de 3er grado en Gresham Arthur Academy en el Distrito Escolar Gresham-Barlow.
“Estoy deseando conocer a nuestros increíbles estudiantes, a sus familias y a los dedicados miembros del personal que hacen de Harvey Clarke un lugar tan especial,” comentó Christensen cuando se le preguntó sobre cómo se sentía con el nuevo cargo. “Construir relaciones sólidas y fomentar un ambiente positivo y de apoyo es muy importante para mí... Juntos, vamos a construir sobre los éxitos del pasado y luchar por logros aún mayores.”
Christensen obtuvo su licenciatura en Ciencias en la Universidad Estatal de Portland y su máster en Artes de la Enseñanza en la Universidad de Marylhurst.
El distrito está emocionado de que Laura se una al equipo de FGSD y le desea lo mejor al comenzar la siguiente fase de su carrera en Harvey Clarke Elementary.
